About Us
White's Rides has been family owned and operated for over 50 years.
This horse drawn carriage business has a very unique origin. Back in the 1950's, Ken White used his personal team of horses and sleigh to run mail and supplies across the ice from mainland Kingston to Wolfe Island in the winter months when the local ferry could not get through the ice. In the early 1960's Ken saw a need for a service business using his horses and sleigh. He began transporting Queen's University Students across the ice to recreational events held on Wolfe Island. This evolved and grew into Ken providing a year round service which included hay rides, sleigh rides and eventually wedding carriages. White's Rides grew to be the only service of its kind in the local area.
Today, the business evolves once again as Ken's son Rick carries on the tradition from a new location in Kingston, Ontario, with the same friendly faces at the lines. Our wonderful selection of horse drawn carriages, wagons and unique horse drawn trolley's continue to be for hire for weddings and special events throughout the Greater Kingston area. We would be happy to speak to you about enhancing your upcoming celebration!
